August 27 Sooke Salmon Report

Still lots of great salmon fishing reports from Sooke's waters.   There are chinook/spring salmon caught up into the 30 pound range, plus coho salmon and pink salmon. @ Otter Point
Luke from had a good day:  "Just came back from Otter Point with Curtis, his father, and Adam from Yellowknife, Ontario, and Campbell River.  They said it was the best fishing trip they have ever had. We fished the high tide around 4 pm for only 3 hours with non-stop action. We got two 30lbs and the rest between 15 and 25 lbs -- plus one pink and one coho.  Wow, what a blast, fishing with these experienced guys!"

And then one more photo of a happy angler, up in Sooke all the way from the Texas Gulf, with his prize catch.  Good times!  Photo from

Hot August Days

The salmon fishing in Sooke is great right now!   Lots of spring/chinook salmon around, plus coho and pinks too.  And the normal August weather, sunny & calm or foggy & windy, and changing quickly.  Fun times on the water.....see the photos below.

August 7th Sooke Fishing Report

Great fishing in Sooke lately!
Curtis from reports: "Fishing has been fantastic lately with a large run of Chinook Salmon passing Sooke waters recently.  Eric from Edmonton had great success with his wife and two sons fishing for Chinook Salmon up to 39 lbs, with plenty of coho and pinks in the mix as well. The most consistent action for the Chinooks have been anchovies in a army truck teaser head and green flasher, 70ft on the rigger in 100ft of water.  It's time to take the kids out fishing as there is very consistent action all day long!"

And there's also loads of pinks and coho out there, lots of fun to be had.   It's peak season, no more excuses, get out there and catch a fish!
