Winter chinook

There have been some positive reports lately of people catching "winter springs", or resident chinook salmon.  These fish are smaller than the summer mature chinook, the biggest are up to 10 lbs or so. But many consider them to be the best tasting salmon, very rich in omega fats, they bbq up fantastic.  These salmon are normally caught near the bottom in 130-150' of water, most commonly from the harbour mouth towards Otter Point (in front of the trailer park).  Sunny weather is the call in the days leading up to Christmas, so get out there and catch a fish ... the stores are open late Christmas eve, you can leave that shopping til later. ;-)
